STATEMENT ON SB 90 LAWSUIT RULING

"This decision is a big deal, and speaks to the decades of voter suppression and subversion being pursued by the Republican Party in federal and state elections.

Last year I launched People Power for Florida to help register voters across the state. We have been navigating these voter suppression laws, having to give politically motivated disclaimers to new voters, not because they're necessary but because they were required by this burdensome law.

Today, I'm glad to see those disclaimers along with restrictions that were placed on drop boxes found to be unconstitutional. No doubt Governor Ron DeSantis will appeal this decision and try to make it harder for already marginalized people to vote. He's already doing that with Florida's redistricting process, too.

But we'll be here to fight back. In 2022, we've registered 2,000 people to vote both in-person and via our online portal. We've also expanded our volunteer base by 140 people, and have ten staff members on the team.

The people of Florida want fair and free elections, elections that are not tainted by partisan attacks. We'll do whatever we can to uphold that vision and those values."
