LAUNCH OF OUR “ABORTION IS ON YOUR BALLOT” VOTER REGISTRATION CAMPAIGN
Goal is to register voters online with reproductive freedom as the motivating issue
Orlando, FL -- Nearly two months ago, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and nearly 50 years of precedent, eliminating the federal constitutional right to abortion, and stripping people of the right to control their own bodies. Since then, several states have banned abortion, turning patients away and ending access to care for too many. Florida is one of those states.
But: in the hours following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe, hundreds of thousands of people attended more than 500 events nationwide. These rallies, marches, and other events sent a clear message: We Won’t Back Down.
The victory for abortion rights in Kansas only solidified this message, and today People Power For Florida (PPFF) is launching their own digital campaign to amplify the fact that abortion is on the Florida ballot this November, and Floridians need to be ready and registered to vote as a means of protecting our collective rights.
Representative Anna V. Eskamani (and founder of PPFF) is a leader in abortion rights, having worked at Planned Parenthood for six years before she ran for office, and serving as the policy lead on reproductive health issues within the Florida Legislature’s Democratic Minority Office.
For her, these issues are personal. She also knows how important abortion access is for Floridians:
“Majority of Americans and Floridians agree that abortion must remain safe and legal, but that’s not the case anymore. States are banning abortion and criminalizing providers; they’re putting patients in harms way and invading the privacy of families. And they’re not stopping there either. Governor Ron DeSantis has every intention to completely ban abortion in our state if he wins re-election, and we want to make sure Floridians understand that as we approach the voter registration deadline on October 11th.”

This campaign is being launched with the help of Riveter Digital, and with the support of two generous donors who have contributed $30,000 in total towards the campaign's first investments in Central Florida. The goal is to raise additional funds from across the state to expand the campaign’s reach statewide, and launch on streaming services next month.
