PEOPLE POWER FOR FLORIDA AND PARTNERS LAUNCH BIGGEST-EVER FALL DORM STORMS
Eight-Campus Voter Registration Blitz Kicks Off Fall 2025 with Unprecedented Youth Outreach
[FLORIDA – August 11, 2025] – People Power for Florida is proud to announce its largest-ever Fall Dorm Storms, expanding the statewide effort to register and engage student voters during college move-ins. In partnership with genCLEO and Youth Action Fund, this year’s Dorm Storms will reach eight campuses — the most in the program’s history.
Kicking off on August 13 at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), the 2025 Fall Dorm Storms will mobilize hundreds of student organizers to register voters, update registrations, and provide crucial civic education to thousands of incoming students across Florida.
“Young people are the heart of our democracy, and their voices are critical in shaping Florida’s future,” said Representative Dr. Anna V. Eskamani. “Dorm Storms are about meeting students where they are, making sure they have the tools to vote, and building a culture of civic engagement that lasts well beyond Election Day. This historic expansion shows what’s possible when we invest in the leadership and power of the next generation.”

This landmark initiative builds on the success of People Power for Florida’s Dorm Storm model, launched in 2021, and its new summer expansion earlier this year.
“We have fewer voters registered in 2025 than we did 5 years ago, and there’s clear work to do.” said Allison Minnerly, Deputy Executive Director of Youth Action Fund. “Making sure that students can access and exercise their right to vote is a core tenant of how our coalition works to fight back against voter suppression and puts power back into the hands of young people across Florida.”
ABOUT THE PARTNERS:
genCLEO is the youth program under the CLEO Institute, dedicated to mobilizing students to climate action in their communities.
Youth Action Fund (YAF) is a Gen-Z led 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to breaking down barriers to activism by providing resources to young people in Florida. Founded by student leaders of the 2022 “Don’t Say Gay” high school walkouts, YAF provides stipends, coaching and organizing opportunities to students so that they can lead powerful issue-based campaigns and mutual aid projects across the state.
Since 2021, People Power for Florida has registered nearly 10,000 people to vote. In 2024, People Power Florida continued its mission to empower young voters, completing its inaugural seven-stop Organizing Bootcamp tour to train students in power-building and best practices. It has also maintained a commitment to building a multi-generational, multi-class, multi-racial coalition of voters from every corner of the state that shows up in every election.
